"Had a great time last night seeing the movie for the first time. Most of the actors were there, so I finally met Bug, Kevin, and Brandon in person, as well as the new Stifler, Beth (playing Heidi) and Jennifer (playing Ashley). Oh, and Louisa, playing Imogen.

The director introduced the film to the audience and the producer Mike Elliott and I went up on stage with Putch to say a few words.

The film was very funny. The audience was laughing very hard, especially during the whorehouse scene which I think will rank among the funniest in the entire franchise. But the movie also had heart and people were surprised at how heartfelt the romantic scenes were. The actors did a great job conveying the emotion and I think that's what's going to make this one really stand out.

Bottom line, die hard fans are going to love the comedy. It's one of the funniest pie movies of all and Eugene Levy himself said this is the best one since #1. But the naysayers will be very surprised at how much character and story and emotion went into this film. It's actually a very dramatic movie at times and that is going have people not just laughing with the movie, but loving it."

"Coming out in December on DVD. December 8, I believe, because for some reason DVD's always come out on Tuesdays. That's a little tip for you if you want to be the first to rent some movie at Blockbuster. Show up Tuesday morning."

I can't wait to see the movie. When the movie is released i plan on writing a review on it and posting it here. Only 3 months left.

Presents?
There has been much debate over the last few months whether Universal will break with the "American Pie Presents" formula on this movie since I named my script simply, "American Pie: Book of Love" (with a colon instead of "presents"). The notice of tentative writing credits was issued today and they seem to be calling it "American Pie: Book of Love" which is a major victory for me. It's actually not a major victory at all-- more of a micro victory, but we writers care deeply about such things.

For the record, I got sole credit on the movie which is not surprising since there were no other writers.

"I was watching dailies of a fantasy sequence where a bunch of hot Canadian babes walk into the room topless and I got to thinking about the first American Pie movie. Looking back, it's hard to believe that there's only ONE nude scene in the whole movie. Now it's a big scene and very memorable, but none of the series regulars ever got naked (except Shannon Elizabeth) and Nadia only takes her clothes off that one time. By time they got to AP2, the actresses were too big to ask them to do nudity at that point, so it became a go-to solution to just get some Playboy-types to play minor parts where they're topless (the "lesbians" in AP2, the stripper in AW).

It's just weird to think that AP was considered so raunchy at the time with so little sex. By comparison, there are maybe 6 or 7 nude scenes in BOL and not just minor characters. While I tried to keep the crux of the movie about the dramatic story of our heroes, it just seemed wrong not to deliver on the nudity."

Sounds like it is going to be a great movie.

The party queen is reprising her role of Vicki Lathum, from the first two films, for "American Pie : Book of Love", the latest in the sex and pastries series.

Though she'd had small roles in the likes of "Urban Legend" (1998) and "Cruel Intentions" (1999), it was the role of the curious, nervous Vicki in Paul Weitz's $200 million dollar hit that really put Reid on the map. She reprised the role, albeit briefly, for the 2001 sequel.

"American Pie : Book of Love", directed by John Putch (TVs "Scrubs") and penned by David H.Steinberg ("American Pie 2"), tells of a group of kids that discover the sex-bible that so prominently featured in the original film (and, in fact, was used by Kevin, played by Thomas Ian Nicholas, on Vicki, his then-girlfriend). "What's next...
I turned in the polish of BOL and now make the difficult transition of "letting go." Production begins in 3 1/2 weeks and I have officially handed off the project to the production team. It's out of my hands now and on the one hand that's kind of frustrating. Obviously the writer knows the script better than anyone else, and it's only natural to feel anxiety over someone else taking over.

But it's also nice to be DONE. One of the problems with screenwriting is that you can keep tinkering with the script forever--you never know when you're done. But when they actually start making it and there's no more steps in your contract, you know you're done.

I am up for a new animated project that I hope I get. I am finishing my feature spec script. I am pitching a TV show next week. I am writing a children's book. And I am coming up with takes on a few other assignments.

It's a miracle when anything happens in this town. Getting a job, getting a movie made, getting a hit... That's why you have to have a million irons in the fire because that's the only way to ensure one of them actually pans out."

Thank you David for writing AP:BOL. I can't wait to see it.

There is some new news from David Steinberg.

"Just starting a polish on the script as pre-production rolls on. John is up in Vancouver and I'm back here making changes from the round table and addressing final studio notes before we lock the script. (That means we number the scenes and any new scene added after that point becomes an "A" scene, like 93A, so that 94 stays 94. Also, pages will get locked as well so new lines of dialogue will push the page to "A" pages. This is done so that page 94 stays page 94 even if page 93 is actually 1 1/2 pages long.) I think they've also made some casting decisions, but that's sensitive shit, so I'll leave that for Universal to announce."

"Saturday is the round table session. That's where the studio hires a bunch of really funny writers and we all sit around a table for like 9 hours going through the script page by page looking for opportunities for new or better jokes. Basically, someone says, "Who's got anything on page 9?" and then someone says, "Oh, I know. Instead of Oz saying a blow job feels like a warm compress, what if he says it's like warm apple pie?" And they we all laugh and I write it down. A lot of the jokes suggestions are bad, but some of them are good. They do these on almost every comedy."

That sound like fun.

Book of love is the seventh movie in the American pie seres, it is the 4th in the direct to DVD series. Book of love was written by David Steinberg and is going to be directed by John Putch. It has began casting. Steinberg told to Sequel-buzz that he promises a better sequel to the previous installments ("Band Camp", "Naked Mile", "Beta House").
"I think the last three have increasingly gotten away from what made the movies great: lovable, relatable characters and a strong theme about growing up and sex and love", Steinberg tells the site. ''Plus, the first three movies always had strong female characters with a real point of view, not just window dressing. “Book of Love” is very much like the first movie.
